简介 | ADPD is a Maltese green & progressive political party. The party was founded on 17th October 2020 by a merger of the 2 most prominent 3rd parties in Malta, Alternattiva Demokratika (AD) & Partit Demokratiku (PD). The Party is presently affiliated with the European Green Party (EGP). We set our beliefs around 5 basic principles. 1. Social Justice - We believe that there cannot be progress without social equality, responsibility & sustainability. We believe in decent & accessible public services such as public transport, housing, inclusive education, public health & safety in our localities. 2. Civil rights - We believe in a truly democratic, secular & progressive society where diversity is celebrated & protected within a context of pluralism, reciprocal respect & civil liberties. We oppose all forms of discrimination irrespective of one's gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion or belief, race or ethnicity, or any other status, & strongly believe that equality should be mainstreamed in all social policies. 3. Environmental justice - We believe that ecology is a holistic chain & therefore we support sustainable development, the protection of the environment & animal welfare and rights. We are also actively involved in the struggles of local communities. 4. Sustainable Development & Ecological Modernisation - The vision of the Greens holds that the various crises in global society are opportunities through which a sustainable society can be created. This requires a shift towards holistic policy that incorporates economic, environmental & social priorities. 5. Democracy - We believe in a participative & pluralistic democracy based on the rule of law, subsidiarity, adequate checks & balances to ensure a separation between constitutional powers & legal safeguards which serve as effective deterrents against corruption & the dominance of economic interests & egoistic lobby groups. |
