The National Representation of the Student Councils (NPSS) represents the largest union of the student youth, whose goal is to be a representative functionality of the more than 235 thousand students studying in the country. Among the main priorities of the founders when forming this large-scale forum are sought points of contact for common ideologies in the formation of national student and youth policies. The main goals of the National Representation of Student Councils are to realize the rights of student self-government; protection of the social interests of university students; conducting cultural, sports, scientific, creative, inter-university and international activities, which create prerequisites for increasing the capacity of knowledge and skills of student representatives at university centers throughout the country. NPSS is the only statutory national body to protect the rights and interests of students, cadets, specialists and doctoral students in accredited Higher Education Institutions in the country. The NPSS consists of delegated representatives of the Student Councils from all universities in Bulgaria. One of the main priorities of the NPSS is building and maintaining an active dialogue with the state institutions responsible for higher education policy in the country. NPSS is a member and representative of the European Student Union (ESU). NPSS conducts an active dialogue on higher education issues with the Ministry of Education and Science; Ministry of Youth and Sports; Ministry of Labor and Social Policy; The higher schools; National Assessment and Accreditation Agency; Council of Rectors; National trade union "Higher education and science"​ at KNSB; Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce; Commission for the Protection of Personal Data and other institutions and NGOs. The goal is to state the position of the student community clearly and categorically in the various forms of debate in society on the problems of academicism.
