The Public Procurement Commission, whose specific purpose is articulated in Article 212W.(1) of the Constitution of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, was established in October 2016. The mission of the PPC is "To promote transparency, competition, equity, the achievement of value for money, sustainability and environmental best practices in the Public Procurement System." The activities of the PPC which will ensure that there is a robust procurement system to govern public procurement in Guyana, include: 1.Monitoring and Reviewing the performance of procuring bodies, legislation policies and procurement procedures; 2. Promoting awareness of the rules, procedures and special requirements of the procurement process, including dissemination of rules and procedures, approving procedures and making recommendations to public procuring entities; 3. Investigating complaints and/or cases of procurement irregularities and mismanagement.
