It's easy to progress early in your English learning journey, but your progress will slow down as you learn more English. This situation is called a 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗮𝘂, and it usually happens once you reach an intermediate level of proficiency. 𝙄𝙩'𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙡! So, now, you can speak well when you need to, but you still: 🟡 are still translating from your native language, so you constantly feel uncomfortable or doubt yourself 🔵 want to understand native speakers without asking them to repeat what they've said, so ask them to send you an email 🟠 can't find the words to express your thoughts precisely the way you intended, so you are unsure if you've given the right impression or offended anyone 🔴 lack confidence when you speak, so you don't speak up in meetings or conference calls 🟢 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘏𝘖 𝘠𝘖𝘜 𝘈𝘙𝘌 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘨𝘦, so you miss the opportunity to build effective relationships with customers, colleagues or suppliers losing out on business.
