The Institute for Performance Management is the only specialist performance management service provider of its kind for local government in South Africa. The Institute is considered the touchstone source for informed direction and advice on local government performance management as attested by a range of high-level appointments by other spheres of government mandated with interacting with municipalities. The objective of The Institute for Performance Management is to plan, develop, implement, monitor and review workable integrated performance management results through strategic vision, leveraged executive leadership and human and organisational capital. Strategic performance management is change management. It is improving the organisation from one municipality to another. The Institute has received many accolades regarding its interventions and the change that it has established with municipalities. The Institute for Performance Management (Institute) was established in 2004 to address the specific need in South Africa to: Advise on strategic management systems Train in strategic performance management systems Develop and implement strategic performance management and measurement systems Align SDBIP's (Service Delivery Budget Implementation Plan) processes with the purpose of optimising organisational and individual performance The Institute has identified the specific need for a think-tank for performance management advisory service systems in South Africa whereby a true performance management culture can be established and recommendations can be provided in this new, specialised field in South Africa.   The Institute has rolled out a range of powerful new technologies and methodologies in support of government.
