Located at the crossroads of US-101 and SR-92 on the San Francisco Peninsula, Foster City is home to over 30,000 residents and a thriving commercial base including biotech, electronic payment / financial services, software development and research, clean energy, and several merchants in the restaurant and other personal services sectors. Our leading employers include Visa, Gilead, IBM, Electronics for Imaging, Life Technologies, Rearden Commerce and Quinstreet. As an organization, the City is a full-service city, providing parks & recreation, police, fire, water and sewer service to the community. It also ensures that the roadways are in top shape (ranked one of the highest in the Bay Area for its roadway conditions), and that the lagoon and levees provide not only recreational amenities but also protect the city in terms of flood protection. Foster City is devoted to being a sustainable community in terms of economics (providing opportunities for economic growth for businesses and employment opportunities for those living in the community), environment (ensuring the City has the natural resources necessary to support itself long-term) and social investment (the right blend of recreational, cultural, and social fabric elements).
