Bujumbura port, participates in the economic development of our country by performing port operations to fully satisfy our customers and all other port users. We are, in a caring way, brought to listening to our customers. The port of Bujumbura is located to the North end of Lake Tanganyika to the local market as well as in transit for Rwanda or the North-East of the DRC, we receive goods from other Lake ports of which the most important are Mpulungu in Zambia, Kigoma in Tanzania, Kalemie in the DRC. The Tanzanian Lake Port of Kigoma is connected to the Port of Dar Es Salaam on the Indian Ocean by a railway, while Mpulungu port is connected to the Port of Durban in South Africa by a 200 Km-road stretch to railway TAZARA linking Dar Es Salaam-Lusaka-Durban. We also receive trucks bringing goods from the Port of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania, the Port of Mombasa in Kenya and neighbouring countries such as Rwanda and Uganda. Our company, Global Port Services Burundi «GPSB», is the new Concessionary of Bujumbura Port as of December 24th 2012.
