FASO KOOM

We are FASO KOOM - meaning Water of the Fatherland. FASO KOOM is the partnership between the Dutch Water Authorities (DWA) and the Burkinabè Water Agencies. Five (5) Dutch Water Authorities are working with the five (5) Burkinabè Water Agencies in the ongoing implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Burkina Faso. IWRM has been adopted by the national government in 2003 as the appropriate framework to improve the management and advancement of the Burkinabè water resources. The process is implemented through the regional water agencies which operate on a water basin level, in order to facilitate and stimulate participation of local communities and stakeholders within decision-making. Together, we protect the valuable water resources of Burkina Faso.
