SHUKR also aspires to be a model Islamic business, by applying sacred Islamic values to a contemporary, multinational company. We follow fair trade and ethical labor practices, pursue a path of perfection by producing clothing of the highest standards, and apply Islamic financial and investment principles, avoiding interest-based financing. SHUKR is an Arabic word found in the Qur'an which means gratitude or thanks. God mentions in the Qur'an: "If you give thanks (shukr), I shall certainly increase you"​ (Qur'an 14:7). The company SHUKR was named as a means of reminding ourselves and others of this important Qur'anic word and principle.
